Laiba shines in Italy tournament, bags double bronze
The young badminton player continues to compete in various international tournaments, claiming several victories.
Maldives young badminton player Laiba wins two Bronze medals in the Italy tournament
Young badminton sensation of the Maldives, Laiba “Elly” Ahmed Mahloof has bagged two medals after competing in the "Bozen Sprint - International Sprint Tournament of Bolzano 2025".
The tournament was held in Bolzano, Italy from April 25 – 27. The tournament, which is included in the Badminton Europe calendar, saw 330 players from 20 countries competing.
Laiba won medals in the Doubles and Mixed Doubles categories of the tournament. She secured bronze medals in both events.
In the Doubles event, Laiba's pair partner was Mary from Germany. Laiba and Mary’s pair won the quarterfinals and secured a place in the semi-finals. However, after a competitive match, they were unsuccessful in the semi-finals.
In the Mixed Doubles event, Laiba's pair partner was Matic from Slovenia. In this event, the Laiba and Matic’s pair competed in the semi-finals but were unsuccessful.
In addition to these two events, Laiba also competed in the Singles event of the tournament. She competed in the quarterfinals of the Singles event.
