Maldives team departs to Thailand for AVC Beach Volleyball Tournament
 
Qualifiers for this tournament is set for the 14th day of this tournament followed by the main draw on the 15th and 17th of April
 
Maldives National Volleyball Team had within the previous week flown to Thailand to join Bangladesh
 
Maldives will be represented in this year's tour by two pairs of four experienced players

Maldives volleyball team has flown to Thailand for this year's Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Beach Volleyball Tour “19th Samila Open”.

Maldives will be represented in this year's tour by two pairs of four experienced players.

The first pair comprises of Ismail Saajid and Ashfaq Adam and the second one comprises of Shiunaz Abdul Wahid and Mohamed Ali. The Maldives team will be coached by professional Coach Abdulla Nasheed.

While the Maldives team has departed to Thailand to join the Beach Volley Tournament, Maldives National Volleyball Team had within the previous week flown to Thailand to join Bangladesh's Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC)'s Central Zone Senior Men's Volleyball Championship that is to kick off on the 19th of April.

The team had departed early to conduct a training camp before the commencing of the tournament in Chittagong city on the southeastern coast of Bangladesh.

Ismail Saajid and Ashfaq Adam who are to partake in the Beach Volley Tournament had not gotten into this year's senior team competing in the AVC Central Zone Championship.

Before the team had flown to Thailand for the Beach Volley Tournament, Volleyball Association's President Mohamed Latheef had met with the players to encourage them to bring out their best efforts in the tournament.

Qualifiers for this tournament is set for the 14th day of this tournament followed by the main draw on the 15th and 17th of April.
