Three individuals have been arrested during the national security-related operation being conducted jointly by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

Taking to social media platform ‘Facebook’ in the early hours of Tuesday, the authorities revealed that three individuals have been taken into custody so far in the operation.

Further, authorities confirmed that locations related to the three individuals who were arrested, are currently being raided and searched.

It also highlighted that information related to the operation will be provided to the extent possible.

Although details of those arrested were not provided, one individual was arrested from inside a pickup truck that was driving near the Republic Square.

It is not clear where the other two individuals were arrested from.
