Number of operational tourist facilities decline
Maldives currently has a capacity of 1,170 tourist facilities, which include 151 safari vessels, 825 guesthouses, 15 hotels, and 179 resorts. This means that of the total facility capacity, five resorts have yet to resume operations.

The number of operational tourist accommodation establishments has declined.
This was revealed by the latest weekly statistics publicized by the Ministry of Tourism on Thursday.
As such, the ministry’s figures revealed that as of January 15, the number of operational tourist accommodation facilities across the Maldives sat at 1,165. The guesthouses span across 119 islands of 19 atolls, with hotels operational on nine islands of eight atolls. 69 percent of the bed capacity is occupied by resorts, followed by 23 percent occupied by guesthouses, five percent by safari vessels, and three percent by hotels.
Presently, a total of 61,442 tourist beds are in operation across these facilities, which include 174 resorts, 825 guesthouses, 15 hotels, and 151 live-aboard vessels.
This means that over the past few days, several tourist facilities halted services including 116 guesthouses and four liveaboard vessels. However, two resorts resumed services to tourists during this period.
The beds operational across these facilities include 42,565 in resorts, 2,038 in hotels, 13,837 in guesthouses, and 3,002 in live-aboard vessels.
