Former President Abdulla Yameen has challenged the incumbent administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to prove to the people that there are no corruption cases involving the incumbent and his senior government officials, and to stop influencing the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ex-president made these remarks while speaking at a gathering of the People’s National Front (PNF) on Monday.

Yameen asserted that several cases of corruption have been filed against President Muizzu and his senior government officials. He, however, stressed that none of them are progressing.

Highlighting that the ACC should function independently, Yameen said that with money and influence in the government, many things can be done, and with supermajority in the People's Majlis, even the constitution can be changed as desired. However, Yameen warned that this power will not last forever.

Yameen said that since the government has taken over the power of the ACC, Speaker of the People's Majlis Abdul Raheem Abdulla has asserted that successful development projects of the incumbent administration will not be “visible to the eye”.

However, Yameen said that the people will want to know what happened to their money and will question it. Yameen said that even the people's representatives have not been informed about what happened to this year's budget funds, and that the Ministry of Finance has also stopped publishing financial statements.

Further, the former president added that under the incumbent administration, the island nation has set back by 30 years.

Yameen said that the state is required to pay large sums in settlements because of the incumbent and that no one in the current administration can answer for this or be held accountable.

The former president stated that the integrity standard of the current administration, which came to power with a claim to investigate corruption cases, is at an all-time low.
