Bank of Maldives (BML) has donated 300 bicycles to recipients across six islands.
In a publication on Monday, the country’s national bank revealed that the 300 bicycles were donated to children between the ages of 14 and 17, residing in six islands of the country.
They were distributed through six local NGOs.
The donation carries the purpose of encouraging healthier lifestyles as well as to promote sustainable living within the island communities.
The donations were distributed to recipients in Dhidhdhoo island of Haa Alif atoll, Eydhafushi island of Baa atoll, Maafushi island of Kaafu atoll, Manadhoo island of Noonu atoll, Mulah island of Meemu atoll and Villimalé.
The Dhidhdhoo donation was handed over by NGO ‘Dhidhdhoo Kurimagu’, the Eydhafushi donation was handed over by NGO ‘West Wings’, the Maafushi donation was handed over by NGO ‘New Star Sports Club’, the Manadhoo donation was handed over by NGO ‘Chester’, the Mulah donation was handed over by NGO ‘Community Empowerment Linkage’ and the Villimalé donation was handed over by NGO ‘Save the Beach’.
