A probe has been launched into the death of an expatriate working at the Thilamalé Bridge site.
The Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure revealed that relevant authorities have launched an investigation into the death of a migrant worker on June 17.
The ministry revealed that the deceased was identified as an Indian national.
The death of the migrant worker is being investigated in collaboration with the contractor and other relevant authorities.
The ministry went on to confirm that the news of the death of a migrant worker who was involved in the repair work of the Sinamalé Bridge was not true.
Earlier, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that a migrant worker was rushed to the hospital some time after sundown on Monday, after he got lightheaded and collapsed.
He was taken to Tree Top Hospital in Hulhumalé, the capital city’s suburban extension.
Police cited doctors at the hospital having revealed that he was already deceased when he was brought in.
Further details including the cause of his death and the circumstances surrounding the incident, were not disclosed by the authorities.
