A man who was arrested in connection with a drug operation, has been remanded.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they made the arrest during an operation conducted on May 7, in the capital Malé City.

The operation was conducted jointly by officers of the police intelligence unit and the Drug Enforcement Department (DED).

Arrested was a 27-year-old Maldivian man.

Officers raided the man’s apartment under a court order following his arrest and confiscated 14 rubber packets, an empty film cannister and a sheet containing suspected narcotics, as well as an illegal pill.

Upon being presented to the Criminal Court for his remand hearing, the man was remanded for a period of seven days.

Police DED is currently investigating the case further.
