Naifaru island in Lhaviyani atoll has been included among the seven specific regions to be developed as urban centers by the administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
This was revealed by the president while speaking to residents of Naifaru island as part of his brief tour of some islands in Lhaviyani atoll on Saturday.
Speaking to the island community, the president shed light on the crucial need for sustainable development across the scatter of islands comprising the Maldives.
Shedding light on his administration’s master plan to establish seven urban centers, each dedicated to deliver high-quality services sustainably to the people, Muizzu detailed the comprehensive scope of the urban centers.
As such, the project would encompass critical aspects of the healthcare sector and offer diverse therapy services.
Further, the president detailed plans to improve the education system to the highest standards.
He went on to detail his plans to improve the island’s road infrastructure which would in turn ensure comprehensive development across all sectors.
The meeting also saw the president acknowledging that the land expansion project in Naifaru initiated earlier had not met the expectations of the island community.
In this regard, he assured the island community that his administration’s project would successfully conclude with the acquisition of 45 hectares of land, aligning with the aspirations of the island community.
