MP Saud kept in solitary confinement for seven days: Family
Currently under Police custody
Water supplied to cell after five days
Ameen says no one had received documentation stating Ameeth is not an MP

Family of Maduvvari Constituency MP Mohamed Ameeth says the MP had been kept in solitary confinement for seven days and he is currently facing several health complications.

MP Ameeth’s brother Abdullah Ameen said that Parliament Secretariat had handed over a document to Police that had said the MP had attempted to enter Parliament premises after he had lost his seat. The MP, he said, had been arrested under a court order and had been kept in solitary confinement for seven days.

‘Today we learnt many things in the hearing from Ameeth. Such as the health issues rising from the high heat in his cell. The doctors had noted this. Today we learnt that he had been kept in solitary. Ameeth said water was supplied to the cell after give days,’ Ameen said after attending the hearings in Supreme Court.

Ameen called on the authorities to review Ameeth’s medical condition and to provide him adequate medical care.

He also called on the authorities and Police to be fair, just and not to neglect Ameeth’s medical condition.
