Kendhoo Constituency MP Ali Hussain says that there will be a day when the investigations of those officers of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) and Maldives Police Service (MPS) who had acted illegally on July 24th are carried out.

Speaking to press after attending the summons issued on him, MP Ali Hussain said the statements taken by Police from MPs will come useful one day. Noting that President Yameen will not remain in power for years, MP Ali Hussain said when the administration changes these statements will be reviewed.

In addition to Ali Hussain, Kimbidhoo Constituency MP Abdullah Riyaz, Hinnavaru Constituency MP Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Maafaanu West MP Mohamed Falah and MP Mohamed Aslam face criminal charges for having broken Police ranks and obstructing duties. They have been charged with breaking Police ranks, obstructing duties, attempted entry into closed off premises and attempted assault.

MP Ali Hussain added that such charges and summons only served to encourage him and the opposition to strive more in their cause.

Opposition Maduvvari MP Mohamed Ameeth, Vilingili MP Saud Hussain, Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim and Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Faris Maumoon are currently under arrest. Additionally, Maamigili MP Qasim Ibrahim and Hithadhoo Central Constituency MP Ibrahim Mohamed Didi are currently under trial.
