Hulhumalé accident victim succumbs to injuries

The victim has been identified as Mohamed Layaan, 19.
The man involved in a dangerous road accident near Hulhumalé Detention Center, has succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has been identified as Mohamed Layaan, 19.
Layaan is reported to have passed away while receiving treatment for injuries attained in the collision, at Tree Top Hospital.
He was pronounced dead at 03:57pm on Thursday.
The accident took place in the early hours of March 5.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the accident occurred after a speeding motorcyclist crashed into a parked van in front of the Immigration Detention Center in the capital city’s suburban extension, Hulhumalé.
Officers patrolling the roads spotted the crash at around 2:32am and attended the scene.
The motorcycle involved in the crash was damaged beyond use, with the van also having acquired damages.
Further investigations in connection with the accident are currently underway.
