Kudahuvadhoo island of Dhaalu atoll has been included among the seven specific regions to be developed as urban centers by the administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
This was revealed by the president while speaking to residents of Kudahuvadhoo island of Dhaal atoll as part of his ongoing brief tour of islands in Dhaalu, Meemu and Vaavu atolls.
Speaking to the island community, the president shed light on the importance of focusing development across multiple zones as well as to implement a population consolidation policy, for the sustainable growth of the Maldives.
Shedding light on his plans to establish development zones in the four northernmost and four southernmost atolls of the Maldives, the president noted that the seven urban centers would be developed to include high-end public services.
The president also expressed intention to develop Kudahuvadhoo into an urban center to incorporate the needs raised by the island council.
Some of the needs raised by the island council include modernizing the port, establishing a commercial harbor, enhancing, and expanding services provided at the hospital, constructing a new hospital building, developing a multi-sports complex as well as ensuring the implementation of all essential amenities expected in an urban center.
