The president met members of HA. Ihavandhoo council and WDC on Saturday

Council members of Ihavandhoo island of Haa Alif atoll have shared critical issues and priorities of the island community with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

This was done during a meeting the president held with the island council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) on Saturday.

Some of the critical issues and priorities raised at the meeting include the urgent need for an integrated waste management system in the island, connected to the national waste management policy, expediting the hospital project, addressing road construction needs, installing revetments, initiating housing projects, establishing a campus for higher education, upgrading banking and electricity network services as well as establishing sports facilities on the island.

Speaking at the meeting, the island’s WDC members expressed optimism for the leadership of President Muizzu.

They went on to encourage the president to fulfil his presidential pledges diligently.

WDC members also formally requested the government to prioritize the enhancement of health services available from the island.

The meeting saw the president assuring that all the pledges he made for the island would be implemented in due time.

Muizzu went on to share the plan to resolve the issues raised at the meeting and reassured them that every effort will be made to provide agreeable solutions.

The ministerial delegation accompanying the president provided latest updates of development projects planned for the island as well.
