Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has inaugurated a project to establish laboratory services on 76 islands.
The 76 islands included in the project, previously did not have access to laboratory services.
The vice president inaugurated the project during a special ceremony held at ‘Uduvilaa Hall’ of Dharumavantha Hospital on Thursday.
Taking the podium at the ceremony, VP Latheef noted that the administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu prioritizes the provision of standardized healthcare for communities across the nation.
The vice president highlighted that planning and implementing a project to offer healthcare laboratory services nationwide was a key initiative under the Muizzu administration’s ‘Hafthaa 14’ roadmap.
As such, VP Latheef noted that healthcare laboratories were launched on four islands that previously did not have access to laboratory services, as part of the project.
The administration will be developing healthcare laboratories on the remaining 72 islands before May 2024, according to the vice president.
Highlighting that paving the path for healthcare access for all and building confidence in the healthcare sector are the primary focuses of the administration, VP Latheef stated that the government would deliver the most sought-after medical services to the people as soon as possible.
