The Commonwealth Secretary-General, Patricia Scotland has paid a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
The meeting took place on Saturday afternoon at the President’s Office.
During the meeting, they discussed various topics, including climate change, climate financing, the COP28 summit, initiatives of the Commonwealth, digital education, and women's empowerment.
The Commonwealth Secretary-General stressed the importance of the Maldives continuing to champion small island states during the climate crisis.
During the call, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted the government’s priorities for digitalization and women's empowerment. He also stated the need for climate adaptation in the Maldives.
The Commonwealth Secretary-General congratulated the President on his commencement of office and stated that the Commonwealth would support the Maldives by all means possible.
