Four individuals have been injured in an explosion that occurred at Kulhudhuffushi Airport in the north of Maldives.
A media official at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital revealed that the four individuals injured in the blast were rushed to the hospital at around 11:12am on Thursday.
Highlighting that one of the injured is in critical condition and was taken to the operation theatre, the media official noted that the remaining three also attained injuries of different severity for which they had been treated.
Regional Airports MD Mohamed Rizwee confirmed that the FED system used for the airport’s trill was being tested, and workers had been testing the pressure of some of the equipment when the explosion occurred.
The injured individual in critical condition had a fractured arm.
Although no further details have been revealed, the Maldives Police Service (MPS) stated that further investigations are currently underway.
