The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has revealed that the man who was found dead at sea, jumped into the water near Rasfannu region.
MNDF on Thursday revealed that they found the man who went missing after jumping into the water near the Rasfannu region at sea, near Dhoonidhoo island late Wednesday.
MNDF Coast Guard Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) received the missing person report at around 7:54pm on Wednesday.
Upon receiving the report, a team of the MNDF Malé Area Coast Guard Second Squadron had been active Wednesday night.
As part of the search operation, a team of Coast Guard Squadron divers had searched an area spanning 41,590 square meters under water on Thursday morning.
The body was discovered by crew onboard a ferry of Maldives Transport Contracting Company (MTCC) traveling near Dhoonidhoo island.
MNDF Coast Guard received reports that the body had been found, at around 9:19am on Thursday.
The man’s body has since been brought back to the capital Malé City with the assistance of officers of the MNDF Coast Guard Second Squadron.
