Several newly completed infrastructure projects have been inaugurated in Rasmaadhoo island of Raa atoll.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih inaugurated the projects in Rasmaadhoo as part of his campaign tour across Raa atoll, ongoing as part of his campaign for re-election in this year’s Presidential election, slated for September.

President Solih was accorded a warm welcome upon arrival in Rasmaadhoo island on Thursday.

Inaugurated on Thursday were the island’s newly upgraded harbor, the coastal protection project, a new powerhouse and the FENAKA Corporation office building.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) took on the harbor upgrade and coastal protection projects.

Under the harbor project, MTCC conducted dredging operations for the harbor basin and channel and installed groynes measuring 36 meters as well as a revetment measuring 181 meters.

Further, a quay wall measuring 272 meters was also constructed alongside a concrete jetty measuring 84 meters as well as other port-related components.

Rasmaadhoo coastal protection project involved the installation of T-groynes measuring 195 meters and a sea wall measuring 186 meters.

With the newly inaugurated projects, the safety and functionality of the Rasmaadhoo harbor have been ensured for the island community’s benefit, which in turn enhances their quality of life.

These projects not only improve the quality of life for island communities nationwide, but also support the continued growth of the communities.

The new powerhouse built on the island mirrors a significant upgrade from the previous infrastructure, with its strategic location away from the residential area. This is turn ensures the residents are undisturbed.

The state-of-the-art facility has the capacity to generate power up to 795 kilowatts, providing reliable and efficient energy to the local community.

The incumbent administration has made significant strides towards the equitable development of all inhabited islands nationwide without discrimination, under the capable leadership of President Solih.

The initiatives by the administration have ensured that the quality of life of island residents have been enhanced and they have been empowered to lead dignified lives.

President Solih has been officially inaugurating several development initiatives that have been completed across the scatter of islands comprising the Maldives, as part of his campaign tours.

The initiatives underway on the islands represent significant investments in the development and well-being of island communities and are expected to enhance their quality of life.
