The administration has announced their decision to give housing flats to all eligible beneficiaries under the government's “Gedhoruveriyaa” scheme.
Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has publicized the interim list of beneficiaries under the “Gedhoruveriyaa” scheme. The publication states that the administration has made the decision to award housing flats to all eligible beneficiaries.
The ministry states that those who wish to submit complaints regarding the provisional list can do so through the "Gedhoruveriyaa Portal" from 8 August 2023 to 22 August 2023.
Additionally, the Housing Ministry will be verifying the accuracy of the information provided in the forms submitted by the eligible persons on the interim list before announcing the permanent list. Those who cannot verify the validity of the information submitted in the form will be treated as per the acknowledgment made when submitting the form to the "Gedhoruveriyaa Portal".
The Ministry urges corporation from all in verifying the accuracy of the information.
The opportunity to apply for land and housing flats under the “Gedhoruveriyaa” scheme was opened on 26 June 2022. The deadline for submission of applications expired on 16 October 2022. A total of 20,697 applications for flats and 15,164 applications for land were submitted before the application window closed.
Minister of State for National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Akram Kamaludeen has stated the administration will start construction of flats for all eligible beneficiaries under the “Gedhoruveriyaa” scheme, before the end of this term.
Speaking to RaajjeMV, Akram stated that around 3,500 to 4,000 more flats needs to be constructed to provide all of the eligible beneficiaries with the flats. He noted that discussions are ongoing to start the construction of these flats.
Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) is currently carrying out the project of building 4,000 housing units in Hulhumalé Phase II as part of the “Gedhoruveriyaa” scheme.
The planning ministry revealed that these housing units will be completed by 2024.
The 4,000 housing units are being constructed by two India-based companies.
Out of these, 2,000 housing units are being constructed at a price tag of USD 137 million by India’s JMC Projects, with the remaining 2,000 having been contracted to India’s NBCC company.
Under the project, 32 towers comprising of 17 or 18 stories, will be constructed. Each of the 32 towers will feature 128 apartments. These include 1,200 two-bedroom apartments and 2,800 three-bedroom apartments.
