Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Yoshimasa Hayashi is to make an official visit to the Maldives.

The Japanese Foreign Minister's official visit to the Maldives is on an invitation by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.

The Japanese Foreign Minister will be visiting the Maldives from 29 July to 30 July, 2023.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that Minister Yoshimasa will hold meetings with his counterpart Minister Shahid, and also with Minister of Defense Mariya Didi during his visit to the Maldives.

Furthermore, he will also be witnessing the Exchange of Notes under the Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) between Maldives and Japan.

The visit of Minister Yoshimasa is the highest-level visit by a Japanese Government official to the Maldives, since the visit of former Foreign Minister, Taro Kono in January 2018.
