MACL launches Comprehensive Road Safety Awareness Program

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has launched a Road Safety Awareness Program in conjunction with the Maldives Police Service, marking a significant step toward improving road safety.

The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Ibrahim Thoha, Deputy Managing Director of MACL, and Ahmed Abdul Rahman, Assistant Commissioner of Police.

MACL notes that this event reflects a new chapter in the company's commitment to creating a safe environment within and around the airport premises.

Highlighting that the Road Safety Awareness and Prevention section of the Maldives Police Service plays an important role in planning, directing, coordinating, controlling, and enforcing land transport rules and standards, MACL notes that the company aims to strengthen its relationship with the public and spread safety awareness nationwide.

Under the newly launched Road Safety Awareness Program, MACL's Safety, Security, and Compliance Department has planned a number of activities throughout the year. Targeted awareness training for senior management, general employees, and drivers will be part of the campaign.

Deputy Managing Director Thoha emphasized the importance of rule compliance and speed limit observance during his inauguration speech. He warned everyone to be cautious, citing the high volume of huge buses and cars in Hulhule'.

Similarly, the Assistant Commissioner of Police asked personnel to be alert to potential danger factors and to report any safety concerns to the appropriate authorities as soon as possible.

The inauguration ceremony was followed by an instructive awareness seminar for MACL's senior management.
