The Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has held the graduation ceremony of the Ninth batch of 'Certificate 3 in Custodial Management and Security' programme for the newly-inducted officers.

This is the 27th batch of the authority’s basic training programme.

Minister of Home Affairs Sheikh Imran Abdulla was the guest of honor at the ceremony, which was also joined by Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu, Deputy Commissioner of Prisons Ibrahim Mohamed Didi, Judge Moosa Naseem, Superintendent of Prisons Moosa Anwar, directors at prison complexes, officers at commissioned ranks as well as other guests who attended upon invitation.

The three-month training programme commenced on 31 January 2023.

The training programme was kicked off with 53 trainees, out of which 51 successfully completed the programme.

The ceremony included a parade and a video presentation of how the programme was carried out.

Certificates were handed over to all the graduates and medals were conferred to the high distinction winners at the ceremony.

In addition to this, certificates and shields were awarded to the healthiest or “fittest” female and male officers, with the “Best All Round” officer conferred a certificate, shield, sash and beret.

The officers who were awarded the fittest officers include Prison Private Amani Ahmed and Prison Private Muruthala Adnan.

The “Best All Round” title was bestowed upon Prison Private Adam Muzhir.

Shields were also conferred to the officers who excelled from each platoon, with the most exemplary platoon awarded a trophy.

The graduates were administered their oath by Judge Moosa Naseem.
