A prisons’ officer stationed at Maafushi Prison, has passed away.

Private Adam Naushad, 32 died a sudden death while on duty at Maafushi Prison on Thursday evening.

In a post on social media platform Facebook, Commissioner of Prisons Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu revealed that Naushad collapsed due to a sudden ailment, while on duty.

He is to have succumbed to the ailment after being rushed to the Maafushi Health Center.

He died while receiving treatment. However, the cause of his death remains undisclosed.

The post also reads that Naushad’s sudden death brings his family as well as the Maldives Correctional Service (MCS), immense grief.

According to the institution, Naushad joined the institution on 3 February 2014 and had worked in several units of MCS, since then.
