An individual wanted in connection with a case being probed by the Maldives Police Service (MPS), has been summoned for questioning.
In a publication on Thursday, MPS revealed that the summons was issued under Section 27 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to be followed by the institution while investigating criminal cases.
The summons was issued after efforts to locate the man and issue the summons notice were to no avail as his whereabouts remain unknown to the authorities, as well as the suspect’s family.
He is wanted for questioning in connection with accusations linking him to child sexual abuse.
The case is being probed by the police stationed in Fonadhoo island of Laamu atoll.
Being sought is Saaedul Islam, 29 and native to Bangladesh.
Saaedul is to present himself to the L. Fonadhoo Police Station for questioning at 10am on May 11.
