Nazim Sattar summoned to Police over retweet
Reposted a tweet regarding First Lady

Popular lawyer Nazim Sattar has been summoned to Police for questioning over a reposted tweet regarding First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.

Nazim, a member of MDP legal team, was summoned to Police Wednesday afternoon on allegations that his tweet was inflammatory, designed to sow discontent and chaos in public and for having spread false rumors and reported false claims to state bodies. Police summons stated that he had claimed that First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim was travelling from Singapore to Male’ with large sums of cash.

He was summoned under clauses 521 and 522 of the Penal Code.

Clause 521 concerns the provision of false claims to Government agencies, especially claims that are delivered without an oath. Clause 522 concerns the submission of false claims to enforcement agencies.
