President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has watched the final match of the President's Cup football tournament, and handed the trophy to the winning team.

The official closing ceremony for the President’s Cup 2023 and the final game was held at the Galolhu National Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The final game saw Maziya Sports and Recreation Club going head-to-head against Club Eagles.

Maziya beat Club Eagles with a score of 2 – 0 in the final game and was crowned champions.

President Solih handed the championship trophy and medals to the winning team during the closing ceremony.

Tuesday’s ceremony also saw Bassam Adeel Jaleel, President of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) presenting the Maldivian leader with a jersey of the National Football Team that will be used in the upcoming SAFF Championship 2023 tournament.

This marked the 69th year the President’s Cup has been hosted in the Maldives.

The first tournament was held back in 1946.
