Maldives fastest runner Hassan Saaid has exited the 200-meter dash of the Asian Athletics Championship following a thigh injury.
Speaking to Raajje.mv, Athletics Association President Mohamed Tholal said that Saaid came down with the injury shortly after competing in the 100-meter dash final on Friday. He said the team had worked to address Saaid’s injuries. However, Tholal said that Saaid was not in peak physical condition to compete in Saturday’s 200-meter days.
He added that Saaid had faced the injuries as he had to complete in various heats consecutively, noting the rain had impacted as well.
Saaid came in fourth in the 100-meter dash on Friday, by finishing the race in 10.37 seconds.
Even though Saaid had exited the dash, Maldives’ Sarees Ahmed will contest in Saturday’s heat.
