The shore protection project initiated in the island of Kunburudhoo in Alif Dhaal atoll, is well underway.

This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Tuesday.

Providing the latest update on the project, MTCC revealed that the Kunburudhoo Shore Protection Project is progressing well and that currently undergoing are the dredging and reclamation operations.

The dredging and reclamation component has reached overall 52 percent progress so far.

Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to dredge and reclaim an area measuring 24,000 cubic meters.

Further, the company was also contracted to construct a rock boulder revetment measuring 430 meters, as well as a geo tube revetment measuring 185 meters.

Beach replenishment operations spanning an area of 7,171 cubic meters, are also included under the scope of the project.

The project is valued at MVR 21.2 million.
