Vice President Faisal Naseem has officially inaugurated the "Masjid al-Walidain," a new mosque developed on Hithadhoo Island in Addu City.

The Vice President formally opened the mosque before the Friday prayers, on 24 March.

Speaking briefly at the function held to mark the mosque’s opening, the Vice President called on the public to make the best use of the holy month of Ramadan and devote more time to religious practices.

The new mosque, donated to the community by a generous benefactor, has a capacity of 250 people and features a dedicated area for women.

Before visiting the mosque for its opening, the Vice President visited the Maldivian Aviation Academy in Gan Island and met with the senior management. They shared with the Vice President some challenges, including difficulties in recruiting new instructors.

The Vice President is currently on a one-day visit to Addu City.
