The Environmental Impact Assessment work for the shore protection project in Vilufushi island of Thaa atoll, is currently underway.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) in a publication on Wednesday.
As such, providing the latest update on the Vilufushi shore protection project, MTCC revealed that they mobilized the project site on Wednesday.
Currently, the work for the environmental impact assessment is ongoing, according to MTCC.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct dredging operations in an area measuring 3,047 cubic meters as well as a swimming area measuring 1,869 cubic meters.
Further, the company is also required to construct a revetment measuring 184 meters and a groyne measuring 135 meters.
The supply and installation of barrier floats along the periphery of swimming area is also included in the scope of the project.
The Vilufushi shore protection project is valued at MVR 11.9 million.
