An expatriate has been arrested for being in possession of alcohol.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the expatriate was arrested from Hulhumalé, on Wednesday.
The expatriate was driving a van in which police officers discovered a stash of alcohol bottles upon searching, following suspicions.
Taken into police custody over the matter is a foreign man.
Further details of the suspect’s identity nor the amount of confiscated alcohol and type have not been disclosed by the authority.
