The Island Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members of Mahibadhoo Island of Alifu Dhaalu Atoll has expressed their gratitude to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for earmarking the land reclamation project of the island in the budget, for next year.

President Solih on Sunday, met with the Mahibadhoo Island Council and WDC members at the President's Office.

The meeting saw council members noting that it had been 35 years since housing plots were last issued in the island.

They went on to express their gratitude to the President for earmarking the land reclamation project of the island in the budget, for next year. The members noted that the project would help address space constraints on the island.

The Island Council members also expressed their support for the administration's developmental agenda.

Additionally, discussions at the meeting focused on the pertinent needs and concerns of the island's community. As such, discussions were held on housing, waste management, shore protection, expediting the hospital project, road construction, and youth development.

The council members also requested the inclusion of Maafaru Lagoon under their jurisdiction.

During the meeting, WDC members shared their concerns about needing more dedicated office space.

Moreover, the meeting saw President Solih briefing the members on the administration's developmental plans for the island. He also assured the members of the administration's commitment to finding agreeable solutions to the concerns of the island's residents.

The President also reiterated his commitment to ensuring the equitable development of all islands.

Mahibadhoo Island Council and WDC members noted the fruitful nature of the meeting and expressed their gratitude to President Solih and his administration before the meeting was concluded.
