Residents of Maamendhoo Island of Gaaf Alif Atoll has expressed their content with the progress of the water supply project ongoing in the island.
They expressed this at a meeting with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Saturday.
President Solih on Saturday, met with the community of Maamendhoo Island as part of his visit to three islands of Gaaf Alif Atoll.
At the meeting held near the new power plant of the island, President Solih briefed the community about the administration’s developmental plans for the island.
The residents of the island shared with the President their most pertinent needs and concerns and expressed their satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing water supply network project.
President Solih recalled earlier discussions with the island council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) members and spoke about the administration’s plans to address the concerns of the island’s community. He announced that a road construction project would commence with the completion of the water and sewerage network project.
Other topics discussed at the meeting include housing needs, expediting the water and sewerage network project and challenges in procuring prescription medicines.
The President added that the council would be able to address housing needs with the finalization of the land-use plan.
