The extension building and new services have been launched at Fuvahmulah Hospital.

The new services and extension building for the southern city’s hospital, were inaugurated by Vice President Faisal Naseem as part of his ongoing tour of the south.

During an event held at Fuvahmulah Hospital on Thursday evening, VP Naseem highlighted that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih places high priority to develop and improve healthcare services across the nation, adding that the administration has built the extension building in Fuvahmulah Hospital within a short period, as part of its healthcare sector development plan.

Shedding light on one of the new services introduced at Fuvahmulah Hospital; speech therapy, VP Naseem stressed that it has been a long-awaited service by the island community, since Special Education Needs (SEN) classes were introduced at the Hafiz Ahmed School back in 2013.

He went on to touch upon the administration’s expenses on the development of new services and facilities at the hospital.

Dental care and dialysis services were introduced in the hospital by the administration in 2019.

Shedding light on the other infrastructure development projects in the city initiated by the administration including the road construction project, the vice president noted that projects are underway to address space constraints at the school.

He further highlighted that the Solih administration has initiated more projects in the city over the course of the past four year, than those carried out in the last 40 years.

VP Naseem also urged the management and staff at the hospital to prioritize the best possible medical care for their patients.

New services launched at the hospital include physiotherapy, speech therapy, and mental health services.
