A man in possession of alcohol, has been arrested from Hulhumalé Phase II.

In a press release issued on Sunday, Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the man was stopped and searched following suspicious behavior.

The man was arrested by officers who were patrolling the streets, on November 26.

As such, the man was found in possession of 48 cans of alcohol.

Arrested in connection with the case is a 30-year-old Bangladeshi man.

Upon being presented to the Hulhumalé Magistrate Court for his remand hearing, the expatriate has since been remanded by 15 days, at a facility allocated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The same day, officers patrolling Phase II stopped and searched two individuals travelling on a motorcycle.

They were stopped for suspicious behavior and were found in possession of a bottle of alcohol.

However, no arrests were made in connection with the case.

Both cases are being investigated by the Hulhumalé Phase II Police Station.
