The physical work of the harbor development project has commenced in Gadhdhoo island of Gaaf Dhaal atoll.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that they began the physical work of the Gadhdhoo harbor development initiative on Saturday.
Currently ongoing is the work to close the existing harbor channel.
Further, MTCC revealed that the first shipment of rock boulders required under the scope of the project, have also been delivered to the project site.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to carry out dredging and excavation operations of 23,017 cubic meters.
MTCC will also be constructing a breakwater measuring 232 meters, a revetment measuring 35 meters, a quay wall measuring 320 meters as well as a scouring apron measuring 320 meters and a bridge.
The installation of a harbor pavement measuring 1,600 square meters and harbor lights, are also required under the project.
The project is valued at MVR 42.6 million.
