His trip is to attend the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP27).
A high-level delegation of government officials accompany the vice president during the visit.
VP Naseem is scheduled to deliver the national statement at the conference and is scheduled to participate in multiple high-level roundtable discussions.

Earlier, Maldives announced an ambitious plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.

Several leaders across the globe are scheduled to participate in the summit as well as thousands of negotiators, government representatives, businesses and advocates.
