Members of the island council in Maalhos island of Alif Alif atoll have discussed improving healthcare services in the island, with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
President Solih met the Maalhos council members as well as the island’s Women’s Development Committee (WDC) on Sunday.
The meeting was held at the President’s Office.
At the meeting, discussions revolved around development projects initiated by the incumbent administration on the island as well as the island community’s most pertinent needs.
Shedding light on the significant developmental progress being observed in Maalhos under President Solih’s leadership, Maalhos councilors expressed gratitude to the Solih administration.
President Solih was also briefed on other concerns facing the island residents including the need for a new mosque and a beach, alongside challenges facing the island’s local tourism, proper waste management and training people in technical fields.
The meeting also saw Maalhos WDC members sharing their concerns related to budget constraints.
In addition to this, the president also engaged in discussions regarding the needs and concerns of the constituency of Mathiveri.
Listening to these concerns, President Solih pledged to look into ways to earmark funds in the state budget for 2023, to address the issues raised by Maalhos councilors and WDC.
The president went on to assure them that their concerns will be shared with the relevant government ministries and institutions.
