After the credentials’ ceremony, the Singaporean President and the Maldivian high commissioner exchanged good wishes

The newly appointed High Commissioner of Maldives to Singapore, Ahmed Thasmeen Ali has presented his credentials.

High Commissioner Thasmeen presented his Letter of Credence to the President of Singapore Halimah Yacob during an official ceremony held at the Office of the President of the Republic of Singapore – Istana on Tuesday.

After the credentials’ ceremony, the Singaporean President and the Maldivian high commissioner exchanged greetings and good wishes.

They also acknowledged the close friendly relations that exist between Maldives and Singapore.

Conveying greetings and good wishes from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his people to the president of Singapore and her people, the Maldivian high commissioner expressed gratitude to the Singaporean president for accepting his credentials.

Thasmeen went on to reassure the Singaporean president of his commitment and support to further strengthen and elevate the existing long-standing friendly ties between the two countries, to newer heights during his tenure.

The ceremony was also joined by Thasmeen’s spouse Visam Ali and Second Secretary at the High Commission of Maldives in Singapore, Aishath Jumana.

Thasmeen was appointed to the post by President Solih on August 25 this year.

The new High Commissioner to Singapore completed his bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Warwick, United Kingdom and earlier served as the Minister of Atolls Administration.

He also filled the position of Minister of Home Affairs and served as a Member of Parliament and the Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
