Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the winners of its Innovation Lab Hackathon.
BML's Innovation Lab Hackathon was announced as part of BML’s series of 12 high-impact monthly community initiatives leading up to its 40th anniversary to be celebrated in November 2022. As such, it was held under the theme of developing ‘Banking Solutions to Enhance Customer Experience’.
The 48-hour hackathon was launched at 2pm, October 14 and the closing ceremony was held on October 16.
BML revealed the winners at the closing ceremony. The winners were;
- 1. Digital onboarding submitted by Ahmed Mahfooz, Hussain Zayaan, Moosa Irushaan
- 2. Expense Tracker submitted by Mohamed Athik Ali Riza, Fathimath Areen Naseem, Mohamed Yaniu Rameez
- 3. Personal Finance Manager submitted by Mohamed Jailam, Ibrahim Hussain Shareef, Mohamed Eeman
Over 30 participants took part in the 48-hour hackathon to develop innovative fintech ideas and solutions to enhance customer experience and operational excellence.
BML’s In-charge and Acting MD, Aishath Noordeen stated that the bank is delighted to see the fintech community come together for this Hackathon and the interest from developers have delivered creative solutions that will help us provide a better banking experience.
She went on to note that the bank is excited to welcome the winners to their Innovation Lab and support the teams to realize their idea.
She also thanked the participants and appreciated the mentors who helped bring the ideas to life.
The winners will be given a period of six months tp develop their idea. They will be provided with a furnished private working space to use as an office, a monthly allowance of MVR 20,000 for each team and a long-term maintenance contract of the developed solution.
