The first-ever ‘Psychology Symposium and Exhibition’ has been inaugurated in the Maldives.
First Lady Fazna Ahmed inaugurated the Psychology Symposium and Exhibition at the Villa College QI Campus in the capital, on Monday.
The Psychology Symposium and Exhibition is organized by Villa College to commemorate World Mental Health Day.
Taking the podium at the event, FL Fazna shed light on her time volunteering at the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic at the Hulhumalé Covid Facility and shared her experiences and concerns.
She also shed light on the impact of mental health and the importance of helping each other and that the most important lesson she learned from the experience at Hulhumalé Covid Facility was that physical health could not exist without mental well-being.
Expressing gratitude to Villa College for the significance it accords to the field of mental health, she also thanked the establishment for its part in developing the human resources needed to support it.
The ceremony saw FL Fazna launching the first issue of the Villa College Psychology Bulletin which will feature articles by students from the psychology programmes at the college.
Revolving around the theme “Make mental health and well-being for all a global priority” this year, the World Mental Health Day is marked on October 10 annually.
