Listening to their concerns, VP Naseem assured that the issues will be discussed with the relevant authorities

Vice President Faisal Naseem has discussed development needs with the members of the island council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Maakurathu Island in Raa atoll.

VP Naseem met with the members and heads of the institutions at the island, as part of his ongoing Raa atoll trip.

Discussions revolved around the harbor project, road development, improvements required for the healthcare services, challenges in waste management as well as space constraints at the island council secretariat.

The members also shed light on the need for police services and ways to improve the island's socio-economic status and went on to talk about the difficulties faced in carrying out their work due to budgetary constraints.

Heads of the island’s institutes expressed the need to build a multipurpose hall in addition to the classrooms currently being developed in the school and highlighted the difficulty in finding teachers, specifically those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) training.

Listening to these concerns, VP Naseem assured that the issues will be discussed with the relevant authorities.

He went on to shed light on the ongoing development projects in the island and provided latest updates on their progress.

VP Naseem also stressed on the importance of working together for the benefit of the island community.

As part of the visit, VP Naseem also toured the island’s health center and inquired the staff about their needs and requirements.

He went on to inspect the progress of the expansion building at the health center.
