The members of the island council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Innamaadhoo island in Raa atoll, have briefed Vice President Faisal Naseem of the biggest issues facing the island community at present.
VP Naseem met with the island councilors and WDC members as part of his ongoing tour of Raa atoll.
The meeting saw discussions revolving around the most pertinent issues and concerns of the island community including the water and sewerage project, expanding the island’s harbor and space constraints at the island school.
VP Naseem was also briefed on the need for an extension building for the island’s health center, issues revolving around beach erosion, difficulties in waste management and the need for a police post.
The members also talked about allocating land from Vandhoo Island in Raa Atoll for industrial work, going on to shed light on the need to establish a children’s park and a designated swimming area on the island.
Highlighting that the incumbent administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih highly prioritizes listening to the concerns and needs of the people and carrying out developmental work based on the individual needs of the islands, VP Naseem noted that the necessary discussions will be held with relevant ministries in order to address the concerns raised at the meeting.
During his visit to Innamaadhoo, VP Naseem visited the island’s health center and engaged in talks with the senior management and staff regarding their service needs.
VP Naseem also toured the Zone II Regional Waste Management Facility in Vandhoo where he was briefed on the facility's operations.
