First Lady Fazna Ahmed has met the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women of Bahrain, Hala Mohammed Jaber Al Ansari.
The Maldivian First Lady called on the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women of Bahrain on Thursday.
The meeting saw discussions revolving around the significance of concerted efforts to promote and protect the rights of women and children.
FL Fazna applauded the Supreme Council's role in addressing women's needs to assist them reach their full potential and contribute to society and stated that the protection and promotion of women's and children's rights are a priority policy area for the government of Maldives.
She said that she is deeply passionate about the protection and promotion of women's and children's rights.
Both the First Lady and the Secretary General affirmed their willingness to work towards the common goal of empowering girls and women during the meeting.
Established on 22 August 2001, the Supreme Council for Women is chaired by H.R.H Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa.
The council includes 16 female public figures with experience in women's affairs.
