A large stash of narcotics held in police custody and confiscated during multiple different operations conducted by the Drug Enforcement Department, have been destroyed.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the destroyed narcotics amounted over 260.

The narcotics destroyed were included among the stash that has been confiscated during 2021.

The items destroyed included 10,888 rubber packets, 4,285 pieces of cellophane, 246 film cannisters, 130 bullets and 6,359 pills that were all stuffed with illegal drugs.

Further, 4,559 other items were also destroyed.

The institution revealed that the drugs were destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police team and under the set legal procedure for it.
