MVR 4.7 billion spent on PSIP projects

The Maldivian Government has spent MVR four billion on Public Service Investment Programs (PSIP), thus far in 2022.

According to the statistics publicized by the Ministry of Finance on 30 August 2022, the Maldivian government has spent MVR 4.7 billion on PSIP projects, by 25 August 2022.

Statistics show that highest expenditure was made on water and sewerage development projects. As such a total of MVR 880.6 million was spent on the sector this year.

These include MVR 741 million on installation of water and sewerage systems in islands, MVR 29.1 million spent on sewerage system installation and MVR 110.5 million spent on water systems.

Ministry's statistics goes on to reveal that MVR 469.8 million was spent on housing and infrastructure projects, MVR 216.8 million on land reclamation, MVR 501.1 million on road construction and MVR 589.3 million on harbor development projects.

Additionally, the government has spent MVR 513.1 million on bridge development projects and MVR 420.8 million on airport development projects.

The government has so far spent; MVR 29.5 million on national security and public order, MVR 107.7 million on development of health services, MVR 243.7 million on education sector and MVR 496.7 million on environmental protection projects.

As such, MVR 188.5 million was spent on waste management projects, MVR 231 million was spent on coastal protection projects, MVR 67.9 million was spent on renewable energy projects and MVR 9.3 million was spent on water drainage systems.

By August 25, 2022, the Maldivian Government's expenditure reached MVR 26 billion according to the Finance Ministry. As such, statistics show that the state spent MVR 17.6 billion as recurrent expenditure and MVR 6.4 billion as capital expenditure.

The government has also spent MVR 2.2 billion towards loan repayment and MVR 514.8 million was transferred to the Sovereign Development Fund.

Ministry of Finance revealed that the state has received MVR 18 billion as revenue, so far this year.
