BML's American Express debit cards now accepted globally

Bank of Maldives (BML)’s American Express debit cards will now be accepted across the globe.

The country’s national bank revealed this via a press release issued on Monday, revealing that the American Express debit cards were initially launched for domestic use. However, the bank proudly noted that the cards can now be linked to USD accounts for foreign purchases online and overseas.

Foreign purchases online and overseas will come with a daily default limit of USD 3,000.

Acting Managing Director Aishath Noordeen revealed that this announcement underscores BML’s leadership in card issuance in the Maldives as they continue to offer “great” benefits to their growing customer base.

Further, the Vice President, Global Network Services, India and South Asia, American Express, Divya Jain highlighted that BML has been a “valued” partner for American Express in South Asia.

She went on to note that the launching of BML’s American Express debit cards for international use is a “natural” extension of their efforts to provide card members in Maldives the flexibility of using their cards globally while catering to their lifestyle and spend behavior.

BML revealed that existing American Express debit card holders may request to set a USDollar account as the card’s primary account through internet or mobile banking.

Customers may also apply for new cards, online.
