A man has been arrested for stealing a necklace from a foreign woman, on the streets of the capital city. The necklace has been recovered upon his arrest.
The theft of a gold necklace from a woman on Dhilbahaaru Magu resulted in the arrest of the driver, a 31-year-old, Maldivian male.
In relation to the case police commissioner Mohamed Hameed tweeted that the necklace was found after being sold to a jeweler. And that the case is currently under investigation.
A video of a woman’s necklace being snatched surfaced on social media, the information of the two men in the video has been made public.
The video shows a woman walking who was shortly interrupted by two man on a motorcycle snatching her gold necklace before driving away.
The video showed clear imaging of the two men. Following the theft, the woman was petrified.
