361 cases submitted to HRCM by July's end

A total of 361 cases have been submitted to the Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) so far this year.

The human rights watchdog revealed this via its latest statistics, which indicate that the 361 cases were submitted from the beginning of the year, through the end of July.

The agency went on to reveal that a total of 577 cases are currently under investigations with the probes for 314 cases having been completed under the legal mandate.

HRCM had received a total of 51 cases under the Anti-Torture Act by the end of July.

Of these, currently investigations are underway into 52 cases.

Furthermore, 35 cases submitted under the Anti-Torture Act are in the duty prosecution stage.

Two cases have been identified to be under court process, with investigations into 47 cases concluded.
